Growth and development within our staff and clients is something we place much emphasis on. In fact, it’s what makes us who we are. Our mission, when you boil it down, is to be the catalyst for growth within all people we interact with and employ.

We’d like to share the story of Jezelle Evans, an exceptional employee and community member.

Jezelle started at VPI as a Production Worker, and it didn’t take long for her supervisors and peers to notice her impressive work ethic. At the suggestion of a co-worker, she applied for and was hired as a Job Coach, a position in a completely different department at VPI. Jezelle’s new role provides vocational and programmatic support to program participants at community based work sites, and at all VPI locations.

“Jezelle has shown a pattern of improvement and positive personal and professional development during her tenure at VPI. She has developed through education, as a trusted and valued employee and as an artist. She has also used this motivation towards improvement to help her clients. She has helped many clients that have taken significant steps on their own path of professional and personal development. Most notably is a client employed at the Fox River Mall. Jezelle has been fundamental in this client’s development and employment independence,” says Matt Busch, Client Development and Production Integration Manager at VPI. “We are thankful to have Jezelle on our VPI team and cannot wait to see what she does next.”

Michelle LeBeau, Rehabilitation Services Manager adds, “Jezelle is an asset to our job coaching team and is an excellent advocate for the clients she works with. She is able to train clients at their workplace and promotes independence in all areas of their employment.”

Jezelle’s development as an employee and her integration in both the rehabilitation and production departments of VPI serves as a great example of the new Valley Packaging TALENT Initiative. The T.A.L.E.N.T. (Train, Assist, Learn, Empower, Navigate, Triumph) Initiative is to ensure that all clients and employees are able to pursue their career aspirations at VPI as well as developing their talent, skills and abilities while doing so. Jezelle is an exceptional example of what this initiative aims to accomplish.

Along with being an all-star Job Coach, Jezelle is also a local hip-hop star. Jezelle, who is also known on stage as J25, was recently inducted as a member of the Recording Academy, the organization that presents the Grammy Awards. As the first Native American woman inducted into the organization, Jezelle will help judge the 2022 Grammy submissions in the hip-hop, jazz, rock, pop, reggaeton, and gospel categories.

Jezelle’s work ethic continues to shine, both in and out of work, and for these reasons, we are so proud to share Jezelle’s story in this Employee Spotlight.
