SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Sports Training and Competition

VPI-Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Each sports season lasts 12-14 weeks with practice held one evening per week and competition on the weekend(s). In this recreational program, we compete in Wisconsin Area, Regional and State Competition.

Athlete Requirements

  • Must have a cognitive disability (mental illness does not qualify)
  • Application for participation – completed and signed by physician
  • S.O. release form – completed and signed by guardian and/or adult athlete

  • Complete S.O.W.I. Volunteer Application
  • Background Check
  • Protective Behavior and General Orientation training online
